Last thoughts

Expectation gone wrong? Well my expectation on this subject did not go wrong but it is quite harder than I originally thought it would be . Finals is just around the corner which also means I have to bid farewell to Critical Literacy. The course itself contains critical in its’ name, hence, as I studied the subject, I really have to think outside of the box and critically analyzes everything thoroughly. The objective of this course is to train the students to be more critical in analyzing and coming up with a conclusion. This course had taught me to be more critical in thinking but I am still far from being a critical thinker. My remark on this subject is that if you want to really master the course, you should give your 100% commitment from the first time of entering the lecture until the end of it. You should also focus on what the lecturers are teaching in front and always ask question no matter how big or small the questions because there is no hurt in asking as what y

Why parents don't want their children to be vaccinated

To get vaccinated or not? It is a norm for high income countries to oblige all of their citizen to be vaccinated. It is to make sure the public health is taken care of. Malaysia is one of those country that applies such treatment. Although others do go and get their vaccination, there are a few parents who thought otherwise. One of the reasons some parents think their children does not need vaccine is because they have this assumption that their children antibody can develop itself and if any vaccine is involved it will only weaken their child immune system. Moreover, some of them thinks vaccine is a waste of money and time. There are many kinds of vaccination to be undergone by children for many types of disease, for example, Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, and more. Hence, more money would be needed for further vaccination throughout their child’s lives. In order to get vaccination, the parents have to make an appointment with the doctor which will waste an amount of their

The truth of Hollywood movies

How real is Hollywood movies? Hollywood. It is a well-known film industry that has been producing award winning movies for a lot of decades. Examples of those said movies are Titanic, Lone Survivor, and more. Many of these movies are based on true stories but how much truth was portrayed in the movie itself? The term “fake it until you make it”, is a saying that applied to almost of the producers in Hollywood. This is because they believed that if there is a bit of drama in a movie that is based on real stories, people would be more attracted to watch it as people tend to look for it rather than understanding the real meaning of the movie. Furthermore, producers hold to the notion that marketing the movie the movie is more important than the quality of the movie. People hold high hopes if a movie is produced based on real life events but only to be let down after the movie did not meet their expectation. The preposition, “Hollywood produces great movies, but they don’t al

Stereotyping, really?

Stereotyping, really? Parts of living in this human society is that people are determined by their identity, background, history and more. With these, I mean, they are categorized through their race, religion, age, gender, physical appearance and many other aspects. Apparently, what we show to the public is what we are labelled as. Hence, the term stereotype. One example is how women are stereotyped to be weak and incapable to handle anything by her own. When a woman voiced their opinion out loud they are considered as someone who is busybody. When a woman became the boss of a company or firm, they are viewed as someone who is bossy and most of them actually have a hard time gaining respect from their male peers. It is because most of the opposite gender felt challenged by these women as women are usually portrayed working as a secretary or an assistant. Thus, stereotyping is unrealistic and irrelevant as what we see is not the real form of anyone. The saying, a pic

Critical Literacy

Critical Literacy Most of my seniors would roll their eyes upon hearing of this course. Entering semester four of English Communication means that I will learn more and apparently Critical Literacy is one of it. So what is this Critical Literacy? It is a subject where students are urge to diligently analysed texts and reveal the hidden messages.  It can be said as a course that most of my seniors struggled to pass. Listening to what most of them said about this course really scares me a little but I still have my own expectation towards this course. Although others claimed Critical Literacy as something that is hard to pass, I really hope through this course, I can learn to be more observant and attentive since we actually need to think critically for once. My other expectation is that by taking this course I can learn to develop skills in terms of coming into a conclusion. I also expect myself to think critically and be open to more opinions on any situation which
