Stereotyping, really?

Stereotyping, really?

Parts of living in this human society is that people are determined by their identity, background, history and more. With these, I mean, they are categorized through their race, religion, age, gender, physical appearance and many other aspects.

Apparently, what we show to the public is what we are labelled as. Hence, the term stereotype.

One example is how women are stereotyped to be weak and incapable to handle anything by her own. When a woman voiced their opinion out loud they are considered as someone who is busybody. When a woman became the boss of a company or firm, they are viewed as someone who is bossy and most of them actually have a hard time gaining respect from their male peers. It is because most of the opposite gender felt challenged by these women as women are usually portrayed working as a secretary or an assistant.

Thus, stereotyping is unrealistic and irrelevant as what we see is not the real form of anyone. The saying, a picture is worth a thousand words, means that nobody can really decipher the true meaning of the picture for it can be something deep or just a mere every day picture. This should also be applied and planted in every individual as we cannot define anybody through their race, outer appearance, age, and religion for people are worth more than what we see through our eyes.

To put it briefly, one way to end stereotyping is we have to change these biased assumptions is by making a change in the system of how people portrays each other.

Love,

Sarah
